Transport for London has extended its consultation on its proposals for improving safety in Private Hire Vehicles (PHVs).
The consultation opened on 26 March this year and is seeking views on a number of areas including:

  • Driving tests for private hire drivers
  • Signage on PHVs
  • Private hire driver ID on PHVs
  • Insurance requirements for private hire vehicles (PHVs)
  • Background checks for private hire drivers

TfL have now published an Independent Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) to look at the equality, health, environmental and business and economic impacts of the proposals in part one of the consultation which relate to driving standards and vehicle signage.
The consultation period has been extended to give respondents time to consider and respond to the IIA.
